The Lantern Parade for Peace last night was a great success, despite a few hiccups (like lack of lanterns for Longsight!). Once again, we had dry weather. The two marches converged on Whitworth Park from Moss Side and Longsight, led by samba bands and attracting loads of interest and positive comments. In the park we watched the release of lots of colourful Chinese lanterns, which were a lovely sight as they floated up into the early evening sky. Then off to Manchester Academy for soup and snacks and drinks and encouraging remarks from Tony Lloyd MP. Great fun! More photos here.
