Journeys: A Faith Dialogue Event

Our next dialogue, continuing a theme of JOURNEYS is…
Ivan Lewis - A journey from Manchester to Westminster and beyond in the Foreign Office.

  • • This will be a starting point for people to discuss with others of faith (and not) their thoughts on their own spiritual journeys and where the future for faith in government will be.
  • • There is a ground rule of respect for others opinions, even when in disagreement.
  • • The main purpose of the dialogue sessions is to learn from each other and work towards further joint ventures.

The diversity that makes Manchester great is itself diverse: Manc Music to Manc Cuisine; Manc Sports to Manc Ingenuity in science and industry. We have the biggest student campus in Europe and a people woven from every culture on planet earth. A key ingredient in the Manc mix is Faith, which actually runs through all the other stuff too. Faith Network for Manchester and Greater Manchester Muslim / Jewish forum hold a series of ongoing dialogues where people of faith can share their concerns for the well-being of our city at many levels. Our current theme is “journeys”, with an evening looking at Hajj that led into discussion about pilgrimage in Christianity and Buddhism too followed by a thought provoking presentation from a group of Manchester Jews, Muslim’s and Christians who had travelled together to the West Bank and Israel. It is refreshing to see Manchester playing a part in reversing the tendency of conflicts elsewhere in the world being exported here and elsewhere by setting the example of having constructive conversations that can offer real solutions to instead export opportunities for peace to the world hot-spots.” David Gray
