  • Trafford Week of Peace: 19-26 September

    September 19, 2010toSeptember 26, 2010

Very much a ’sister’ event to PeaceWeek, Trafford Week of Peace was a big success when it began last year. This year it is taking place from September 19-26 and has been described as “a unique opportunity for locals and partnerships to come together to embrace, celebrate and promote peace within our community.” It will feature a Peace Debate, Peace Supper, Street Art Project, Spoken Word Night, School Assemblies and Careers Visits to the Magistrates Courts and Universities and a Walk for Peace with Lanterns. For dates, times and more information, download a poster or leaflet, send an email or phone 07903 102620 or 07595583822.

  • PeaceWeek 2011 theme chosen

After much discussion of a number of ideas over the last few planning meetings, it has been decided that the theme for PeaceWeek 2011 will be “Generating Peace” - peace across the generations, building mutual respect and breaking down the stereotyping that can lead to misunderstanding, fear and isolation. We are hoping to encourage middle-aged and older people from the community to get involved in the events and activities, to interact with young people, so that each generation can learn from the others. Some ideas are being explored already, but there is plenty of room for more. If you have any suggestions for activities or events on the theme of “Generating Peace”, please send them in.
